Sonepur Mela: Six Months of Planning, Unforgettable Experiences

Organizing my second workshop with the team at the legendary Sonepur Mela—the biggest cattle fair in Asia—was no small feat. For six months, I meticulously planned every detail of this photo tour, knowing well that Sonepur always brings its own set of challenges. The unpredictable crowds, vibrant chaos, and even reports from participants who claimed to have faced supernatural activities made this journey truly unique.

Despite these hurdles and the fact that we didn’t achieve absolute perfection (and honestly, who does?), the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From witnessing countless events—from traditional rituals to spontaneous street performances—to capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments on camera, our group embraced every twist and turn with excitement.

The true success wasn’t just in perfect execution but in the joy shared by everyone involved. The smiles, laughter, and camaraderie proved that sometimes it’s not about flawless plans but about making unforgettable memories together at events as magical as Sonepur Mela.
