A day on the beach....

Not too long ago, about ten years back, I found myself traveling along the vibrant east coastal area when I stumbled upon a fascinating village. Life here revolves entirely around the sea—boats lining the shore, families depending on each day’s catch to sustain them. As a documentary photographer, I was instantly drawn to document their world: their emotions, happiness, and daily struggles.I tried to capture every aspect of their lives—their families and children playing by the sea, their workplaces set up right on the beach. A day spent on this sandy stretch revealed so much more than just hard work; it was about resilience and community. From sunrise to sunset, I roamed about the beach with my camera in hand, watching as fishermen mended their nets with skilful hands and sold their fresh catches with pride.

What struck me most was how these villagers embraced every moment—sharing laughter while preparing bait or exchanging stories as they readied themselves for another ride into the unpredictable sea. Despite challenges and uncertainties that come with a life dependent on nature’s tides, they found joy in togetherness and hope in each new dawn.

When I first arrived at the sea shore, I faced a challenge that might seem daunting to most: the language barrier. The majority of people here couldn’t understand my language, and I struggled to grasp theirs. Yet, instead of letting this become an obstacle, I found it freeing. Communication took on new forms—gestures, smiles, shared experiences—and soon enough, I realized that understanding life here didn’t always require words. Driven by curiosity and respect for their way of living, I began documenting their sea shore life from every possible angle. Over time, slowly I understood that this journey was more fascinating than anything else—I felt compelled to return again and again. Now, after almost nine years of immersing myself in their world and documenting their daily rhythms and traditions, I've learned that true connection goes beyond spoken language.

This on going experience has not only enriched my perspective but also allowed me to capture stories that might otherwise go untold. Sometimes the greatest insights come from embracing what makes us different—and finding common ground through observation and empathy rather than words alone.

Through my lens, I witnessed not just survival but celebration—a testament to human spirit thriving by the water’s edge. This experience convinced me that there is something deeply inspiring about communities that live so closely tied to nature: they remind us all of what it means to truly live in each moment.
